At the Whitney Museum of American
Art, the lines that are wrapping around it as it
is being reopened in downtown New York City are not just for those who want to
take a view of the 22,000 works in the gallery’s space that is vastly expanded.
From far and near, visitors are clamouring to enter into one of the most hotly
anticipated new restaurants of the city - Untitled, which is the most recent from Danny Meyer the restaurateur.
Michael Anthony the Gramercy
Tavern’s longtime executive chef was tapped by Meyer to be the leader of the
kitchen which is a steel space that is open and stainless and spans almost 50
percent of the length of the dining room of 72 seats.

The appreciation of the gastronomes would be
for the menu that is seasonal and thoughtfully sourced and results in compositions
that are beautifully plated of monkfish that are grilled and dressed in lobster
sauce and black garlic, or shrimp ravioli that is ruby-coloured and topped with
mushrooms and nettles.
The restaurant which also has a terrace
outdoors with 52 seats and views of the Statue
of Liberty and the Hudson River
is located in the ground floor of the museum of 220,000 square feet which Renzo Piano designed. The restaurant
will soon start to accept reservations and would be open for lunch and dinner.
However, until then guests who face waits that are long are not bereft: the Studio Café is also operated by Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group on the 8th floor of the building, and it has a fare
that is lighter, about as many seats, and a space outdoors with the same views
that induce envy as Untitled’s.
