Have you
ever dreamt of going to Iceland to see the Northern Lights? Well, thanks to the
new aurora borealis-themed Hekla Aurora plane of Icelandair you can now do so
even without having to touch down in Reykjavik. Vibrant greens and blues were
used in painting the exterior while the main cabin inside is illuminated with
LEDs that mimic the natural light show of the sky. This is all a part of the
#MyStopover campaign of the airline that permits passengers who are on their
way from or to Europe to lay over for up to week in Reykjavik. Presently, there
are no plans for introducing more themed planes, which means that it is a
matter of luck for now. In order to find out if you could be on the Hekla Aurora
visit this dedicated website.

In other news on Icelandair: recently an application was filed with the
government of the United States by the carrier to be a partner on codeshare
with JetBlue. This would result in connections that are easy when you fly
between the two airlines (a combination of luggage transfers, ticketing), most
especially when travelling to Europe via Reykjavik or to Reykjavik via JFK and
Boston.
