1.      Franschhoek, Cape Town, South Africa.
Franschhoek is adorable -  a little town that is charming and set inside the winelands and reminds the visitor of French provinces. What makes this a place to love and be loved under the vines of Africa are the abundance of farms, fine dining, elegant roadside cafes, and cobbled terraces. Dieu Donne is a winery of elegance which is set high on the slopes in the south and evokes the feeling of a lovers alpine retreat with its terrace restaurant that are secluded peaking over the valley and house for guests shrouded in bougainvillea which are pink. Fond memories of the place will linger with any first time visitor.

     2.     Pemba, Zanzibar
Verdant and lush Pemba is an island of spice idyll where anyone can set sail into the sun set of the east Africa aboard a wooden dhow that is traditional – a past time that is classic Indian Ocean. Rather smugly, any visitor cannot resist the temptation not to include Fundu Lagoon, a resort that is remote and having mangroves with sandy paths surrounding it and forest cabins that are Makuti thatched. Why not boards a plane bound for Pemba this weekend and make this your hide-out for the weekend!

     3.     Marrakech, Morocco Djemaa El-Fna
Visualise here as channel-surfing that is live-action: everywhere you view in the Djemaa el-Fna the open-air theatre and main square of Marrakesh you are going to make a discovery of a drama that is still in progress. The street theatre (halqa) and the hoopla has been here ever since and non-stop since this plaza was the destination and venue of executions in the public around AD 1050. This is why it is so called, which means “assembly of the dead.”

     4.     The Namib Desert, Namibia.
Live out your deserts dreams in one of the rustic stilt-legged chalets at Wolwedans Dunes Camp and by so doing you get to follow in the footsteps of Angelina and Brad. Sleep at the peak of a dune that is deep red with your canvas blinds open to the seclusion of silence of the epically vast Namib Desert. Popular for its sublime exclusivity, the Safari editor Paul Steyn is quoted as once saying that you are going to be left with a feeling of blissful loneliness and giddiness by the Namib.

     5.     Vamizi Island, Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique.
In spite of its being located in one of earth’s most wildest places, and set in the midst of the Quirimbas Archipelago in waters that are free from cyclones and calm off the coast of northern Mozambique, the definitive experience of barefoot luxury is offered by Vamizi in Africa.

The Editor-at-large of Safari and the founder of Africa Geographic Peter Borchert stated that at dusk hot air ballooning over the magnificent Masai Mara is an event on the bucket list of any visitor moved by Africa. From wide and far honeymooners come to have an experience of this adventure that is quintessential and out of Africa, especially during the annual migration of wildebeest which is a high drama event and one of the truly greatest spectacles of nature in the world.

     7.     North Island, Seychelles
North Island is a hideaway for the famous and the rich and has been voted as number one by Harpers & Queen (UK) Best Hotels on Earth. Even though it might be beyond the average visitors pocket’s reach, it still does not hurt to drool, drizzle, and dream over this island of tropical fantasy.

Victoria Falls or ‘the smoke that thunders” which is named after the late Queen of England is famous for being one of the most naturally romantic and regal destinations of romance on Earth. On the banks of the Zambezi River is located a luxury lodge known as Tongabezi’s Honeymoon House which was once described by The New York Times as a place that is “worth getting married for.”

For the getaway that is the ultimate Robinson-Crusoe, you can get lost in the midst of the trees of mango, baobabs that are age-old, and get to fall under the mythical and captivating Lake Malawi’s spell.

The Business Director of bigFIG digital media and a lover of all things African Harriet Nimmo stated that this lake of limitless turquoise is clear in a wonderful way, and ideal for diving, snorkeling, and swimming, or just for relaxation – with an accommodation range that is wide to cater for everyone from backpackers on a budget to five star lodges of luxury on islands that are exclusive.

     10. Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania.
The CEO at bigFIG digital media and Director at Africa Geographic Simon Espley stated that Greystoke on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Mahale National Park is the most romantic lodge that he had ever visited. It has a beach which is fantastic and set against a lake that is blue and stunning, sand that is white and behind you lies a forest and it has the best chimp trekking in Africa by far. A must for any visitor is the dinner on the beach underneath candlelight.
