On view at the annual design fair in Salone del Mobile in Milan that is currently in progress the tie-up between two brands that are rated tops in Italy – Emilio Pucci and Kartell – is probably the most exciting of all the collaborations of big names. After all, for enthusiasts of design, the partnership is a match made in heaven because it is a partnership between Kartell the maker of furnishings well known all over the world for its molded-plastic pieces such as the chair of Louis Ghost by Philippe Starck, and the brand of high fashion well known for prints that are psychedelic and hues that are saturated.

Running at the Milan Fairground from April 14 to 19 at Salone and expected to have around 20 million visitors drawn to it, there is a debut by Pucci and Kartell of their Madame Pucci Chair. It is another beauty created by Starck which is upholstered in one of four different prints that are jet-setting that was designed for the collaboration by Pucci.

Each print which is a continuation of the limited-edition collection of scarves called Cities of the World has its inspiration taken from the streetscape of a fashion capital in which the house has a store that is flagship. You are going to discover a lot of Pucci license that are poetic included in the mix, but those with an architectural eye will see iicons from the futuristic skyline of Shanghai, Madison Avenue in new York City, Rome’s Piazza di Spagna, Avenue Montaigne in Paris, and more.

Today Kartell is hosting an event which is strictly by invitation to have the chairs launched at its showroom in Milan and in attendance would be Laudomia Pucci (daughter of the company’s late founder Emilio) and Starck. The pieces will continue to stay in public view all through Salone prior to their being put on sale in June in shops in Europe and in September in outlets in America.
